Bath 'n a Buff for a Beautiful Radio
A note to begin. The photos on the following few pages show some of the steps collector Alan Eaton's dark green TR-6 went through when he granted me the pleasure of restoring it. Overall, the radio was in excellent condition to begin with, so the word "restoration" rings in my ears as almost an exaggeration for the work I did. Essentially, this was a case of giving the radio a good thorough cleaning. The majority of time went simply towards polishing off the oxidized/discoloured layer that had developed over the cabinet's entire surface. The radio was quite consistent in colour when it arrived, yet this wasn't the true original colour; it was a bit mottled and the cabinet had completely lost its shine.
