National used quality components and clearly made an effort to produce outstanding radios. The wiring is heavier than in most transistor radios I've seen, the printed circuit board shows a high level of engineering and production skill, and the insides are padded and protected by several felt and cardboard pads and insulators, (which are not seen in these photos). National-made components include the transistors, diodes, transformers, electrolytic condensors and IFTs. And check out the groovy screw indicator on the battery holder label. So's ya knows where to put it and all.
