This unit is not from the earliest production, but still uses early NEC oval transistors:
ST37D - ST28B x 2 - ST301 - ST121 x 2 - [SD46]
For reference, the earliest units use the following NEC oval transistors:
ST16B - ST16A x 2 - ST3B - ST12 x 2 - [SD34]Runs on 6V of power from 4 x UM-3 (AA-size) batteries. Note: there's a second transparent blue insert that fits between the two rows of batteries. (The earliest production units have a different battery holder.)
